1st Annual KCBS Rubstock BBQ Championship: A Groovin' Time in the Foothills

Rubstock is the last fully sanctioned KCBS four meat competition that has been approved for CBBQA Team of the Year designation to be held in Northern California for 2013.

The Fabulous Liars Band will fill the air on Friday evening with their renditions of classic rock hits, some of which are rarely heard. A Tri Tip competition will be open to all teams who are ready to take on the challenge, currently scheduled for a turn-in time of 7 pm. A Pitmaster Cooking Challenge, a la Iron Chef style, will be open to five teams who are ready to start cooking at 4pm with a turn in time of 7pm.

Country music takes the stage on Saturday, starting with Madison Hudson performing acoustically throughout the morning and early afternoon. The #1 Country Band on the KCRA A-List, Two Steps Down, takes the stage at around 1 pm.

Come help us fill the air with the wonderful smell of competition BBQ and join us for a groovin' time in the foothills!!

Great American BBQ Tour Information

The 2013 Great American BBQ Tour has chosen Rubstock as one of only 22 stops out of over 400 sanctioned KCBS competitions held across the United States and Canada. This will bring a large media and spectator focus as the GABT will enhance Rubstock by bringing their national recognition to our event.

The GABT annually stops at the more notable competitions including the Jack Daniels World Invitational BBQ Championship in Lynchburg, TN and the Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Contest in Memphis, TN. In fact two weeks before Rubstock the GABT will be at the Best in the West BBQ Rib Cook-off in Sparks, NV which draws over 500,000 spectators during the five day event and two weeks after Rubstock the GABT will be at the American Royal BBQ Championship in Kansas City, MO, which draws over 525 competition teams and over 270,000 spectators during their two day event. Why fight the huge crowds or fly across the country when you can see the Great American BBQ Tour here in Cameron Park?!?!?!

Additionally, GABT Pitchman Mike Peters will also compete as the Pitmaster for the "Here Piggy Piggy BBQ Team" in the Pro Division at Rubstock.

We are honored and overjoyed at our selection by such a prestigious BBQ partner as the Great American BBQ Tour.

Reser's America's Best Potato Salad Challenge Information

Rubstock has also been chosen to be one of only six competitions across the United States and the only competition west of Texas to hold the Reser's America's Best Potato Salad Challenge. The first place winner of this challenge at RubStock receives $1,000 and up to a $1,000 travel voucher to compete in the finals for $10,000 at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, NV. Start working on your potato salad recipe to increase your chance to win this great ancillary competition.
