Who's interested in the Cee Du

I've been in contact with the Southern California chapter of the International Dutch Oven Society and we've gotten a lot of interest for this joint venture. The date that works best for them is the weekend of October 26-27-28. As of right now, there are no events on the CBBQA calender that conflict with that date.
So, assuming that date, assuming a cost of $250 and assuming a location near the Pamona Fairplex, who's interested in this class?

It's not connected to any other IDOS event. And there's no link yet. I'm trying to get all the ducks in a row, then I'll speak with the CBBQA Board of Directors. Once they've approved everything I'll post here and send out an official flyer/email.
The class will be held at a campground of some kind. You can come just for the class hours if you wish, but I think it'll be more fun to camp out.

Is there any updates on the class. Will we need to provide our own equipment? If the equipment is new, will we season it as part of the class, or does it need to be seasoned. If we need to bring our own equipment, is there somewhere is L.A. to get equipment, or if we order from the instructor will it be delivered to class hopefully saving the shipping charges.

Mike,
The latest update on the Cee Dub class is that I presented it to the CBBQA Board of Directors and they need me to get one or two questions answered before they can commit to sponsoring the event. I don't forsee any problem in bringing back the answers necessary for us to proceed but Cee Dub appears to be out of town at the moment (probably teaching a class somewhere). As soon as he gets back, I'll get the answers as well as a new date (almost everyone seemed to have a conflict with the previous date).
As far as equpiment goes, Cee Dub said that he brings all the equipment we will need (he also provides all the food we'll cook). I don't think the cookware will have to be seasoned since he probably uses the same stuff from class to class. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment but it's not necessary in order to take the class. The only thing you have to bring is a way to sleep over at the campground (if you're planning to spend the night) everything else is included in the cost (again, I'll have more specific information about this after I get a hold of Cee Dub).
Let me know if you want to order something from Cee Dub before the class and I'll ask him about bringing it along to save the shipping costs.

Bill where are we at on the date?
Thom,
As soon as I get the final go ahead from the Board of Directors I'll move forward setting the date. It will be some time between mid April and mid May. As of right now, the only conflict during that time frame that I'm aware of is The Autry competition.
Once the date is set I'll secure the location. As previously discussed, I'm going to talk with the people at the Fairplex KOA. I'll need your help when I get to that step.
Once the date and location are final, I'll open up the class for reservations.

I'm working hard to line it all up. I now have the go ahead from the CBBQA Board of Directors and the SoCal Dutch Oven Society.
The earliest Cee Dub is available is mid April to mid May of 2008. I'm now going to try to weed out conflicts and set a specific date in that time frame. Then I'll try to find a location (it'll most likely be the Fairplex KOA and if that doesn't work out I'll approach the East End RV park where we have the Q-fests). Once that's done, we'll start collecting money and making the arrangements.

If you guys have stoves like this to bring to the Wishland event, we can cook the beans on dutch ovens. I just have my two burner Coleman, but I assume it would hold at least one dutch oven. Don't know much about this folks, so you all will ahve to speak up and advise if this is do-able.

I only did it that way because of lack of cooker space - I would have preferred to do pans in the cooker. A 12 inch deep oven holds a little over 2 cans of beans, so if you're doing 20 or so cans of beans, you'd need ~ 10 dutch ovens, which seems unwieldy to me. Do them in 4" deep hotel pans in the smoker.
