The 2013 “Avi Resort & Casino Music Brews & BBQ Championship” is coming (September 26/28), along with the Prescott Valley event “A Smokin’ Good Time” (October 17/19). We are still seeking teams and vendors for both of these events. We have sent you this reminder that the Early Bird Discounts will expire in the next (7) days, and we want you to get as much for your money as possible. Please remember that even if you have sent in your team application but without your money, monies must also be paid by July 31 or else you will be charged the regular full rate. Currently you can get entered into both events for only $250.00 each and both can be completed on line or post marked by July 31, but on August 1th these events will be $300.00.
Avi Resort & Casino has much to offer in that it’s a full gaming casino just a few miles downriver from the main city of Laughlin proper. Because it sits alone they have created their very own city and entertainment center with 18 hole golf course, KOA Campground, Kids Play Zone which is equipped to handle from the youngest to teens with a complete playroom and arcade, 8 plex Movie Theater, (2) very large pools side by side with one for adults and one for the kids, Private beach right on the Colorado River and Private Boat Launch that includes Jet Ski Rentals. If that isn’t already enough to make you want to finish out the summer at the best event on the river that time of year then here is one last perk, rooms are only $25.00 Thursday and $39.00 for Friday & Saturday. The Avi is very committed in making this event one of the largest events in the West, they actually asked me to make it bigger and better than Lake Havasu. This year’s prize fund is $10,000.00 but they are willing to make it bigger each year with the right turn out of teams. To get signed up go to the following link for on line entry http://musicbrewsbbq.../aviteamsignup/ or find attached an entry form.
Prescott Valley: Please if you can come join us in Prescott for a very Special Pot Luck Dinner.
“A Smokin’ Good Time” which will be held at Tim’s Toyota Ctr. and is being promoted by CCJ (Coalition for Compassion & Justice) who is also very committed in making this new event one of the best. As you know Prescott hasn’t had an event for several years and is very ready for this one to be another annual event. What a great place and time of year to have this one. This event will include side categories, PC, music, vendors and special event at the Toyota Ctr. for that weekend. To get signed up for A Smokin Good Time go to http://www.asmokingoodtime.com or find attached there entry form.
With the most recent tragedy of the Yarnell Fire, CCJ and the entire community wants this event even more than ever. They want to show their support by having a Pot Luck Dinner on Thursday evening for the Prescott fire fighters and the families of the Granite Mtn. Team. Cheryl and I have not said much about this until now, but this has touched us more directly than anyone can imagine. The soul surviving firefighter was our nephew, Brendon. So we also want to do our part in helping this community not only in finding peace, but knowing this is something we will remember forever and will support those families when needed.
Here is where we need not only the AZ. teams to sign up, but also teams from everywhere else if you’re not committed to another event. While most of the Granite Mtn. Hotshots where from Arizona, I do know that (2) where from So. California and another from Indiana. Most recently this team was in Colorado Springs, CO. and Glendale, CA. helping their communities and fighting fires elsewhere other than just here in Arizona. Please help make this dinner GREAT & SPECIAL by coming out in support as a team, and lets show these HERO’S how the BBQ COMMUNITY supports other people.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have regarding one of Music Brews & BBQ Championship Premier Events.
New events are coming next year, keep watching for further info.

Dave and Shari Turbyfill, parents of one of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who died, helped us with a wellness clinic for uninsured kids, with the help of a local clinic. Of the kids they were able to see, several were referred to optometrists for possible vision problems, two with scoliosis (curvature of the spine), and one little guy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That's the kind of work you support by coming to "A Smokin' Good Time" Oct. 18-19. Four days to the early-bird deadline -- hope we see you all there! www.asmokingoodtime.com.[/indent]
