My pleasure. I actually didn't see Scott post until after I downloaded all the docs and re-uploaded them to my post. Hope this is helpful.

This is a great event especially for new teams getting their feet wet. The big guys will be in Bakersfield so here's you chance for money and a trophy!!! It is a one day event with chicken, tri-tip, wet ribs (sauced) and dry ribs (no sauce). You can get in early in the morning and be done by late afternoon. Great venue with real restrooms, trees and power. For teams that don't want to travel to Bakersfied this is a great time to try different rubs, sauces and techniques in a non TOY event.

Anyone know how many teams are signed up for the backyard contest? Never done a competition but thinking this might be the one to try. Who else is going to be there?

There are usually about 15-30 teams each year, this is a great place to get your feet wet with competition BBQ. It is a one day event with chicken, tri-tip and wet and dry ribs so you don't have to do the overnight brisket and pork meats. It is a very friendly and relaxed event with many of the teams coming from local businesses that use the event for team building.

This is not a 'backyard' event where there is open judging, it is run like a KCBS event and most of the judges are CBJ's so you will get real world feedback about your turn-ins. The WSBA is a 501c3 non-profit that raises money for feeding the troops and children. A great event with a great cause.

I have been wanting to get my feet wet in competition BBQ, sounds like the perfect event. Can a team consist of 1 person? I don't have a formalized team.

Yes, an you can interchange your help/teammates as often as you like.

Also, since this is not a CBBQA Rookie of the Year (ROY) event, it will not affect your eligibility should you decide to enter that competition in the future.

We still have room for some more teams that want to do a one day contest in Sacramento.
