CBBQA Past President and Hall of Famer Brent Walton has passed
As more details become available we will share them here

Brent was my early mentor in BBQ and I am deeply indebted to him and his Bride Kim for all the help and guidance they offered me

No one ever had a run to match what QN4U did in their multiple CBBQA ToY Team of the Year Championships
I will add to this as I can
Right now I just can't

In reflection about Brent
I repeatedly came back to Brent and Kim's hospitality
Their competition set up was like their living room
All were welcome to stop by and share BBQ and life

Few realize just how much Brent meant to the CBBQA
His work as President while opening a BBQ restaurant ,
His work to incorporate CBBQA ,
His Championships with Kim were amazing

Please feel feel to share a story of how Brent impacted your life here

So sorry to hear this news. We all owe Brent a great dept of gratitude as one of the keystones to the formation of the CBBQA. And I personally have Brent to thank as one of the people who got me started in competition bbq with his 2008 class. He will be missed.

A big loss , A true Pioneer in California BBQ. I cooked next to QN4U at my first contest in 2007 at West Coast Championships, in Fairfield. I had never competed and they gave a box seminar, still use that as my model today. He showed me how he trimmed his thighs. As I tried to nap as awards began, my buddy poked me and said" your 5th in Chicken" , 5th with an assist from QN4U.

At Q-Fest less than 2 months ago, one of the highlights for me was sitting around the campfire into the night and listening to Brent and Dan tell their stories from their trip to Vancouver last year to BBQ for the big exhibition up there. It was amazing to hear the amount of work that went into BBQ huge quantities of food for the masses over a 3 week period.

Brent is so very well respected throughout the BBQ community and will be missed by many. Prayers and thoughts sent to his family.

There just isn't enough words to say how we feel about Brent....he was very inspirational in all things BBQ, and always ready to help and mentor anyone who had the interest...and fueled their passion. Brent and Kim were a very big part of our competition success and after taking their class in 2008 we were able to knock down a 1st place in Ribs at Boulder....and they were there to cheer us on.

At the competitions, everyone was welcome at the QN4U compound...for laughs, stories...Brent always made the time to make you feel welcome and part of the BBQ family...We will so miss you, Brent. BBQ may have lost an icon, but Heaven just got better.

We love you Kim, and are keeping you and your family in our prayers. God Bless you, Brent, may you rest in peace.

All our love, and sympathy...

We've lost a significant piece of our BBQ family with Brent's passing.

What a tremendous competitor! What a generous friend!

He has been a huge help to me over the years in many ways. Even though I thanked him plenty, I think he thought I was blowing smoke up his apron. He was too humble to really appreciate the extent to which his example as a BBQ competitor, educator, evangelist and leader has shaped how I approach everything I do.

My heartfelt condolences to the Walton family.

I first met Brent and Kim at my first BBQ competition in 2006 at the Autry Museum. I later remember seeing a Food TV special about the women who compete in BBQ featuring Kim with Brent. I was so excited as QN4U was the first team I knew as celebrities in the BBQ world.

I heard this sad news this morning amongst fellow BBQ teams at Wildomar. We are all so saddened.

No one cared more about the CBBQA than Brent Walton.

He was one of the most generous individuals you could ever meet.

Our California BBQ community has lost a pillar, but his legacy with live on forever.

Our prayers are with you Kim.

RIP Brent.
