Big Bear at that time of year is awesome..nice and cool..along with a beerfest!..were in for sure!

Don't know who is doing this event but it looks like 2012 was canceled and moved to 2013 and yes, Big Bear is great that time of year.

I'll contact the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce and ask who is running it. We should make sure that one of our trusted promoters gets involved so that this one definitely happens in 2013.

They had an entry for the contest at the KCBS banquet that went to someone. The folks in charge alerted everyone to not trade for it and the team who won that contest was out of luck. It would have been fun to do up in the thin air. I'm sure our Stoker System would have handled it with no problem. Maybe next year.

This event was on the KCBS events list as Canceled.
Now it's back on the new events list as of 1/30/2012 but listed as "TENTATIVE"
Sara Russ at sruss@bigbearchamber.com, phone 909-866-4607 is listed as the organizer.
Maybe she can shed some light onto this situation.
It would be a great vacation spot for that time of year.
HOWEVER, it is the same date as Wine Country Big Q in Santa Rosa.

AHA! I noticed that it changed dates from the earlier cancelation date of 7/14 to the new tentative date of 7/28!
New date not in conflict with any listed California events!

I am actually working with the Lake Arrowhead Chamber on doing a BBQ up there. Preliminary stages as we are set to meet over the next few weeks - probably looking at 2013, with how my 2012 calendar is looking. Maybe an August- or - September gig if they are ready to pull the trigger after meeting #1.

I got a response from Sara via email. She indicated that they were targeting July 27th 2013. As Tracy mentioned, the KCBS calendar corroborates that date.

She and I will talk some time in the next few weeks. I'll ensure that she is familiar with the CBBQA and all we can do to help her get the event off the ground.

I'll keep everyone posted. Fun to see some opportunities opening up for us to compete in a different part of the state.

Again..oh well I'm sure I wasn't the only one hoping to cook up there..would of been nice to escape the heat and cook at high elevation

We don't have the high elevation, but you can sure escape the heat when coming to Vista on Aug 2nd.
