I think I changed my mind and would rather compete than judge. Can I get an app e-mailed to me? jtfisher63@sbcglobal.net.

Everyone please remember to get your paperwork and payment in right away, it look like we are going to have a waiting list for this event if we keep at this pace.

Hound Dog is going to have to pass on this one. I didn't realize it is on the same day as the CBJ in Placerville. I missed the last course because of surgery and i'm not sure when I will get another chance locally...

Smoke on the Mountain Fundraiser

Date: April 21-22, 2012

Place: San Jose Scottish Rite

The San Francisco Jr. Giants, in conjunction with Golden Rule #479 Masons for Mitts, would like to invite you to participate in their first ever BBQ fundraiser for the Jr. Giants.

Each year we try to raise enough money to purchase 1000 mitts for underprivileged kids in Northern California so that they can play baseball. Please join us in a practice cook to help make this happen.

This is going to be a great practice before the Morgan Hill contest , so come out and get ready for the season.

Awards: trophies and cash (TBD) for GC, RGC and 1-3rd in each category

20 Team max

$100.00 entry fee (no cost for power or HD)

Booth Space 20x20 RV for overnight camping is allowed

4 Meat contest (pulled pork, brisket, pork ribs and chicken)

Teams are able to check in Saturday with judging on Sunday.

We are asking teams to donate their extra meat for PC to the public, all proceeds will go to the Jr. Giants Masons for Mitts Program. We will supply both tasting cups and assistance at your booth if needed.

For contestant or judges application, Contact Mark Brown.

mark@winewithswine.com

Ric and Ben will be the promoters on this, so we know it will be a top run contest.

I have stood in front of participants and judges at numerous open judging events, Rics and Backyard at the Lake, in addition I have judged Ric's , Backyard at the Lake and the Backyard event in Placerville for Scott Gomes.
It's amazing that you can learn as others are judges, and by judging others. This is not a hangmans jury but a light spirited exchange.
That is the nice part of totatlly open judging in front of judge and other contestants. At Ric's I had my chicken crucified by being over sauced by each judge on panel to have that entry win first place on that day. I still hear about it.
I have not participated in a sequestered judging format.
My comments are or from experience not flippancy.
As a restaurant owner I ask each customer " How is everything?" I face that scrutiny dozens of times a day.

Hi Harry,

I agree with you 100%, the feed back that my team got at Ric's helped us more than I can say. That is why I have Ric organizing this this event. His backyard event is done so well that i wanted to do the same thing only with a full 4 meat turn in

I know you were not being flip. You do a lot of work for the Toys 4 tots program and i know you helped a ton last year at the BABC. With that being said, I thought it would be great if you joined us for this comp, to have you on board would be a great boost.

If you would like to compete or judge, let me know.
