I applaud the flexibility of the Santa Clara people even though they are on the KCBS schedule already with no guarantee Ben/Rick are even going to ask for KCBS sanctioning. The SC contest was looking good for my one trip up north this year to compete (may go up to judge a few if 50 other people dont' beat me to it). I look forward to seeing the revised date.

We have the plot plan all laid out for the event and it looks great. It’ll cover 6 acres of the Mervyns Plaza parking lot with the stage and food vendors in the center. Starting to get applications in for KCBS competition and for the backyard comp. We started hanging banners up around town and its generating a lot of talk among the community. The residents of Santa Clara are looking forward to this event.
If you’re thinking of competing get your application in soon.
If you are thinking of Judging, we only have a few more slots open before we start an Alternates list.
Our team is working hard
to get the last few details handled and we are getting real excited as these next 90 days dwindle down to the big event. Santa Clara Rotary Club is looking forward to hosting this competition and our members are eagerly waiting showing everyone a real good time
.
Hope you all have a Happy Easter!

We've had some problems with @svbbq.com email addresses and our webmaster is looking into it. If you are having issues sending emails to frank@svbbq.com, you can use wmauto@att.net as an alternative.

We’re honored to announce that a major benefactor for our event will be the Wounded Warrior Project. WWP is a great program helping our injured service members returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Taken from WWP website www.woundedwarriorproject.org
With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries. For every U.S. soldier killed in World Wars I and II, there were 1.7 soldiers wounded. In Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, for every U.S. soldier killed, seven are wounded. Combined, over 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts.
In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.
With the mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs. Offering a variety of programs and services, WWP is equipped to serve warriors with every type of injury – from the physical to the invisible wounds of war.
Join us to make this a successful event and give back to those who have been on the front line to defend our country.

Frank,
I've clicked on the link to the Silicon Valley website and our wiki page and neither has information on the cost for entering this event. I even went to paypal and it says $0. What is the cost of this contest? Is there an early bird fee that I'm missing? Thanks Frank!

Hi Donna
Here is the link to the application. When you are on our website you have to click on team application that is above the pay pal logo to get the application. It is confusing and I hope to have our webmaster to correct it soon.
