Bob Davis and I are happy to announce that the Pro Division and Backyard Division applications for the 2011 2nd Annual RibStock KCBS BBQ Competition are now available at http://rib-stock.com/registration/. The event is scheduled for September 16 - 17, 2011.
I've requested RibStock to be considered as a CBBQA TOY event again this year. We had a great time last year and hope we'll have over 50 teams this year. The feedback received from teams, judges and spectators about RibStock 2010 was extremely positive so if you missed our event last year, make sure you don’t miss it this year!!
Just like last year, RibStock is all about competition BBQ and nothin’ but competition BBQ!! All of you, the professional competition BBQ teams, continue to be the centerpiece for this event. We’ve already received commitments from a local Rock ‘n Roll radio station and local television station as media partners. We want to give you the exposure you deserve for making the commitment to keeping true BBQ alive. We’ve already booked The Gator Alley Band, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, the carnival is returning so there'll be lots of activities for the kids and we’re signing up craft and food vendors to make this a memorable event for everyone. You can find our more about the event at www.rib-stock.com.
This competition is being held at the same location as last year, Cameron Park Lake, in Cameron Park, CA. It’s about 28 miles east of Sacramento on Highway 50. It's very easy to get to and a beautiful area that is perfect for a competition. There are many amenities for the teams and judges just a few miles away including a Nugget Market, CVS Pharmacy, Regal Theaters (with an IMAX Screen!), Holiday Inn Express and numerous restaurants. Both a Sam’s Club and a Costco are within 7 miles of the venue. Plus you’re only 8 miles away from the Red Hawk Casino, 35 miles away from the gold discovery site or numerous wineries (the crush should be in high gear) and just under 60 miles away from Lake Tahoe.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thanks!

It looks like we're going to have the same parking issue as last year. This means all vehicles/trailers not critical to the actual cooking process will need to be parked away from the competition area. Be prepared to sleep in a tent or under your canopy in your cooking area if you want to stay close to your meats.
Requests for larger spaces will be prioritized first by returning teams and then new teams. We’ll go by the receive date of the completed application and payment of the standard fee for a 10’x20’ space. Teams assigned a larger space will be notified on August 1st and required to pay the additional fee by August 26th in order to keep the larger space otherwise it will be offered to the next team in the priority line.
Thanks to Matt from 155 South Bar-B-Q Team for commenting on the 'kid friendly'ness of our event and look forward to his and Bram's return to RibStock. Also looking forward to the return of Vance Salvador from Crazy Q and David Schmidt from Rolling Bones. Welcome to a new entry to this years event, Bill Souza from Down N Dirty BBQ.
Keep visiting this post and the Wiki page for updates to information on RibStock 2011 as we get closer to September 16th!

Here's an update on the Pro Division teams that are coming to RibStock 2011.
There are eleven paid and confirmed teams coming to Cameron Park Lake. There are an additional four teams who have mailed in their application and fee this week. Ten more teams have made the verbal commitment to make it to RibStock. Details on who they are can be found on the RibStock wiki page 2nd Annual Ribstock - Peace, Love & BBQ. Once these teams are confirmed we'll be up to 25 teams which kicks in an additional $2,000 into the overall Pro Division payout and brings us to a total of $5,250.
If the remaining teams that participated last year sign up we'll have nearly 40 teams surrounding Cameron Park Lake for RibStock 2011. More importantly it'll add at least another $2,000 to the Pro Division Payout and take us up to $7,250.
For those teams that didn't make it to our event last year and haven't made up their mind to come this year, take the RibStock 2011 Challenge and come out for a great family event.
