Hopefully as good as last year! Great time, and beautiful location on the lake.
Casino rep's were great hosts, and the bartenders served up really good, really cheap drinks!

Got my judges app sent to me yesterday, and booked my room today!

Hope to see everyone there in August!

Me too, I've got to put in for some vacation days to make it to a few of them.

$10,000 in prize money is nice to see. Details are starting to fill in on this 3rd year KCBS event. PC proceeds to teams and children's charity (local school district) 50/50 split.

Looking for ToY approval soon.

ToY sanctioning for Smokin' on the Water has been finalized! With $10k cash prizes, this contest should bring in some great competition. Apps are up on the wiki.

We are very excited to be an ToY CBBQA event again this year. Our website has applications for both BBQ teams and judges(www.kvcasino.com). Click on the link "Smokin' on the Water," on the left side to go to the BBQ page. We already have a few judges returning from last year. There is also a link to confirm the judges names.

This year we intend to devote our entire RV Park to this event.
The total cash award has increased to $10,000. Plus, trophies in the 4 meat categories, Grand Champion, Res. Grand Champion and the People's Choice.

We encourage all teams to participate in the People's Choice awards. The 50% of the proceeds go to 2 of our local middle schools directly into their science and math classrooms.

For those interested in additional entertainment, the casino will have a Elvis tribute concert on the night of August 27th (doors open at 7:30pm). Justin Shandor is a terrific Elvis. He won the Graceland sanctioned Elvis Tribute Artist contest in Fall of 2010, at the yearly contest held in Memphis.

For more information call Konocti Vista Casino 707 262-1900 x1113.

Yup me too. I need to vindicate myself after last weeks debacle. Plus Elvis, sounds like a good time.

So, what's the buzz on this one? Trying to make some plans for the second half of the season. Team list looks pretty small so far so I am starting to wonder how big this one will be.

As everyone knows, the "rules of the game" are that you have to travel to the big contests...so the opposite is also true. I have to make sure it is worthwhile before committing, especially one as far away as this. If we had a system that rewarded for performance with only a slight advantage to larger contests (like KCBS ToY), then I would already be signed up. But we don't, so I need to wait and see how many points will be available before signing up.

Adam, 35 teams competed last year. Well run event, motel, casino, restaraunt on site. water and power in each site, flush toilets close by. wash sink. Could be hot, no shade, on asphault, last year the weather was not too hot but who knows this year? But hey, you got air conditioning! Come on up and set a spell!
