Nope. Below is the text from the ToY rules regarding RoY...

4.04 - Rookie Team Award
The Rookie Team Award will be presented to the rookie team that scores the most points in the overall category during the contest year (using the same point accruals defined above). Points in individual meat categories do not count towards the Rookie Team Award.

Note: The rookie eligibility rules below take effect with the 2009 contest season. 2008 eligibility will be per the 2007 rules.

A rookie team is led by a head cook who:

prior to this contest year, has never been head cook at a sanctioned, professional-level competition, and
prior to this contest year, has not assisted a team (in any capacity) at more than two sanctioned, professional-level competitions.
Sanctioned, professional-level competition excludes KCBS competitor series, "backyard" events, and any other contests specifically designated as amateur.

Note: The remaining rookie rules below take effect with the 2008 contest season.

Any team wishing to be considered for rookie status must make a request to be placed on the rookie list by midnight of the turn-in morning of their first qualifying contest of the contest year. The request should be made in writing (email is acceptable) to the ToY Commissioner. If the ToY Commissioner is absent from the actual competition, a request can be accepted by any member of the CBBQA Board of Directors. The BoD will confirm which applicants qualify.

To remain eligible for the Rookie Team Award, a rookie team must also compete in 4 or more qualifying contests.

Rookie teams remain eligible for all other ToY category and overall awards regardless of the number of contests they compete in.

Complete ToY rules can be found and read here: http://www.cbbqa.org...=2008_ToY_Rules
Thanks Vincent. The 2009 contest season effective rules provide insight in the "first competition" definition, makes total sense. Thanks again.

WOW !!!!!

What a year of competition...........

It's nice to see some newer teams making it up into the top 10.

Smitty's Smoke Patrol had a very strong year.

Way to go everyone.

Looking forward to being in the mix next year.

A few of those top 10 spots could be affected by a December event - depending on # of teams that come out.

Final Standings have been posted.

Thanks to everyone for a great contest year. It's been a pleasure serving as ToY Commissioner. Congrats to our winners.

Now as a competitor, I'm anxious for the leaderboard to clear and try this thing again. T minus 19 days. :)

Bram,

I don't know if or when you are planning to hand over the reins on the commissioner's position, but you have made those some pretty big shoes to fill

Thanks for all your hard work.........

Do you have a missing score??

If you are a member and you were not included in standings (even if 1 score) - please contact me.
I want to make sure 2008 is accurate and member team listing is as complete as possible heading into 2009.

I use the team list at the bottom of the rankings page to assign scores.

Thanks,
Bram
