Kevin,

Are you a current member of the CBBQA?

I don't see you on the active list, may be a mistake.

What month did you join?

Sounds like y'all are gonna get serious about this barbeque thing. Glad to hear it!

Be sure to send a PM to Bram Britcher so that you can get in on Rookie of the Year too, assuming you qualify. You'll have to read the rules in order to determine that.

Kevin,

Looks like we have your membership squared away.

If you would like some help with your "Official CBBQA Team Page" let me know. Team page Link

Email me a picture if you have one, and any logo ideas and we can get you a team page up in a day or so.

Bram will add you to the Team Of The Year list as well when he updates his list.

That, and the likelihood that QN4U might not be travelling as much this year, with their restaurant opening. One can hope, anyway.

Are Fairfield and san Jose going to be Sanctioned this year? If not, I only count 7 sanctioned contests in Cali.

Palm Desert
Wishland
Stagecoach 1 & 2
Modesto
Clovis
and Viejas

Did I miss any?

I think we will end up with more in state contests that qualify as opposed to last year. Out of state contest should not play into California Team of the Year. I feel our California contest promoters are laying the groundwork for a booming contest schedule for years to come. This Stagecoach event is heavy...even the KCBS people are excited.

We have quite a few things "in the fire" up north here as well. It is very important to have the CBBQA Teams come out and support as many contest as they can. I know we have a big state and gas prices and all...but if we both (north & south) can invest in our contests they will prosper and survive. I would like to see every team make a trip to the other end of the state one time this year, I'm currently recruiting Northern teams to come south for Stagecoach and Viejas.

Fairfield and San Benito County event are going to be 25-35 team KCBS events this year, we would welcome any and all you guys from the south to venture up and give us a visit.

2008 Looks to be a very competitive year...for sure.

Good Luck to All.

There would have to be some really good prize money offered (and offered deep into the field) for me to invest 500-1000 to do a contest in Nor Cal. If bigger pools of $$$$ are offered, then more teams will show up, it cant be.."well if we get the teams then maybe next year we will get more prize money"....doesnt work that way. I cant imagine any southern cal people driving to Nor cal for a prize pool the size of Palm Desert, or IB, or Northerns driving to IB to win 50 bucks for 3rd in a entry. Hell teams didnt even drive from LA to Imperial Beach last year because of the money.

Smitty,

My team is trying to figure out how we can make some of the NoCal's. We probably won't make Modesto or Fairfield, but we are looking hard at Rock N' Ribs, Eggs by the Bay, and Shake Rattle & Smoke. Our rig is pretty big and we don't want to pull it back and forth three times in four weeks. If we can find somewhere to park it around Gilroy, or San Jose, then we can pull it up before the Rock N' Ribs, and then pull it home after Shake Rattle & Smoke.

The money is a bonus, but I know no matter where I place, it won't be enough to cover expenses in most cases. I am looking only for the shiney metal and the walk.

Maybe we will see you up there.

Eggs by the Bay is an easy one....we supply the cookers (All new Eggs).

Just come and enjoy, cook, eat, listen to music, eat, drink, enjoy. Sound simple enough?

It would be great to have up here this summer Hershel. SR&S and Fairfield are sorta close in date to do both.

I sure hope so.
Maybe if we can get some more teams there this year, and do peoples choice.
It was really fun last year, and if there was peoples choice, it would be huge.

I would like to do Imperial Beach, but it depends on how close it is to Alpine. I don't think I can get my team to travel so far so close together.

Clovis was the first competition BBQ event I attended, thanks to an invite from Kristin & Bentley. It got me hooked.

I was really bummed I couldn't make it last year. It's definitely on the list for this year.

We also want to make it up to Gilroy.

Don't know after that...........
