Del is setting up another BBQ for our Troops, this time at Port Hueneme. It will be March 8-9, 2012. We will be cooking up pork butts and serving pulled pork sammies to around 500 soldiers just returning from deployment.
We will be cooking starting Thursday night, serving on Friday afternoon. We can use help with a couple more cookers, and help on Friday preparing and serving.
If you are heading to the Santa Anita contest, it is about an 1 1/2 away, so you could come out to help and still make the contest. If you are not aware of the location, Port Hueneme is next to Oxnard near Channel Island Harbor.
So far we have Del, Andrew Soto, Dan Daniel, and myself cooking, and my wife coming on Friday to help prep and serve.
I do not have a ton of details yet, but when Del shares them with me I will pass it on.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
You could send it to me or to Del if you have his contact info.
Just FYI, Andy might be going straight from Hueneme to Santa Anita contest on Friday, not positive, but belive that was his plan. Not sure how that would work out for your carpool plans.

This is a chance to say THANK YOU to our Sea Bee's they are coming back from deployment and this is there wlecome home party. They have been kind enough to let us be a part of it, so please don't abuse this opertunity.
BBQ is going to be on Bolles field, it is located behind the Seabee Museum. If they are coming in thru Sunkist gate take the first right and go until starts turning right, the park is on the left.
If they are coming in thru Victoria take the first left on to 23rd Ave after the guards and go all the way 'till the last light, on the right there is a gas station, turn left and then right at the first street then turn left and go all the way until the road starts turning to the right the park will be on the left.

Thanks Del for putting this on, and that Filet Migon on Thursday night wasn't to shabby either.
Had a lot of fun, met a lot of nice people, ate good, and got to give back a little something to our troops. Doesn't get better then that.
Sounds like they want to have us back in the near future. I will keep you posted.
