Attention CBBQA Member Teams: If you are a rookie team (see definition below) and want to be considered for the Rookie Team award you must request rookie status by June 1st.

Please make your request to me via email at bbritcher@sbcglobal.net and don't be shy.

Thanks,
Bram Britcher
'07 ToY Commissioner
-----------------------------------------
Excerpt from CBBQA ToY Rules:
Section 4.04 Rookie Team Award
The Rookie Team award will be presented to the Rookie Team that scores the most “overall” points during the contest year (using the same point accruals defined above). A Rookie Team is led by a Head Cook who, prior to this contest year, has not cooked in any sanctioned BBQ contest under any team name. One exception: If a team begins competition after June 1st and competes in only 1 qualifying ToY contest, they will be granted Rookie status for the year immediately following their first ToY year. Any team wishing to be considered for Rookie Status must make a request to be placed on the rookie list by June 1st of the contest year. The request should be made in writing (email is acceptable) to the ToY Commissioner. The BoD will confirm which applicants qualify. Rookie teams remain eligible for all other category and overall awards.

Hey Rookie Teams:

Only 3 teams have declared. Don't be embarassed. We know who you are. Declare and go for it.
When it's done, I guarantee the Rookie Team of the Year will have cooked better Q than many of the old-timers.

Deadline is June 1st.

Yes, you qualify. If you competed in just one event last year, and that event was after June 1st, you are granted rookie status for this year.

I'll take your post as your declaration. Thanks.

The Technologically minded have ever been ready to obey one who wields great power. Those who learned the powers of the dark side were quick to exploit this techonology—to make War on Evil Stick Burners. Again and again the dark side has surged forth, like a storm…devouring whole backyards and entire BBQ Competitions. Those who mastered The Dark power became The Dark power. They unleashed destruction, for no other reason to anger the Evil Stick Burners. They despoiled Eggheads…destroyed whole groups of WSM civilizations, and crushed the Elitist charcoal burners. Some of them, I am ashamed to say, have returned to the Evil Stick burner."
