Hi All

The 2014 Silicone Valley BBQ Championships is only a few months away. Plans for this year’s event are coming together nicely. The City of Santa Clara and its Parks Department are excited to have this event again in Central Park. This year Parks Department has turned over the entire Baseball Field to our club to do what we want with it. We’ll have a stage in the field with live music all day including the awards ceremony. Along with all the teams we will have additional food vendors, business vendors, food trucks and the all-important Beer Booths. The kid’s zone in the meadow will also be back this year.

The parks department is working on getting us more permanent shore power in the field reducing our need for generators.

We will have Peoples Choice again this year with 2 changes. All who are serving peoples choice will be accepting tokens for purchase of the samples. Samples will be $2 each. To help cover cost of the event Santa Clara Rotary will be keeping 25% of all samples sales. We are still working out procedures on the distribution of tokens to the public and collection/reimbursement to the participating PC teams. More details to come on this soon. There will also be public voting for peoples choice, winning team will get $250.00

I’ve gotten a lot of comments last year that many didn’t get the e-mails I was sending out. Please add frank@svbbq.com to your email contact list to reduce the chance that my communications with you get blocked or sent to spam. If you participated at our event in t last couple years you should have already received some emails from me about this year’s event.

Lastly, if you’re on facebook, please like our page. We’ve put together a great marketing team for this event and they will be doing regular posting s about this year’s competition.

Frank, this all sounds great! I really look forward to this birthday party you throw for me each year.
I just have two suggestions for your consideration. Adjust the weather to a balmy 75-82 degrees and please do not charge $10.00 for team member parking.

looking forward to another great event!

Hi Rick

Birthday
Happy to Facilitate!

Weather
Been trying to communicate with Mother Nature for years now, but just like a woman she won't listen to me. But I'll keep trying! Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease or in this case hopefully Awesome June Weather.

Parking
All teams get a parking pass, giving you access to the reserve parking over at the community rec center where the judging is performed. One pass per team!

Cheers

Any teams thinking about cooking this contest should take advantage of the early bird special. Kathleen and I were here last year and we will be back to Rep this year. This is a great contest and Frank and his team do a great job. The teams are on grass on a large softball field. Vendors, beer booth, car show, live music, they have it all going on...
