Wow, 5th year for "Smokin' on the Water" KCBS event!

Just spoke with Carol from Konocti Vista Casino and they are gearing up for another year up at the lake.

Look for details on this year's event coming soon.

Plastered Pig BBQ really enjoyed this event in 2012 and we're looking forward to 2013. Hopefully more teams can make the trek out there this year - it was a good time!

Hi Carol-

Just sent in my app today! Do you know if there will be a discount this year for teams staying at the hotel?

Thanks,

Hey Teams,
BBQ teams and judges can receive a $69 room rate at the Konocti Vista Casino hotel. Call ahead to reserve a room and tell the hotel reservations desk that you are a participant or a judge to receive that rate. We expect to sell out the hotel for this weekend so make your reservations early. (All based on availability). If you have any problems with making reservations, just give me a call.
The early bird registration ended yesterday, but there is still plenty of time to join the fun.
Current registered teams for the event: Memphis Mafia, Plastered Pig, Smitty's Smoke Patrol, Eads Downhome, Smokey Luv BBQ.

I'll be cooking with a team this year instead of judging. My main goal is to stay out of the way and get a refresher on what the teams go through so as a judge I don't forget how hard they work.

I don't want to sully the reputation of the team so you will have to be there to find out. LOL.

How hard a team works or how much money a team spends is not, has never been and should never be a judging criteria. The food's appearance, taste and tenderness is all that counts.
