Have we considered the idea of making a smallish, say 1' x 1', banner of the CBBQA logo available for purchase by members? Something that could be displayed at competitions, events, in Ric's back yard along with whatever other branding that is present? I appreciate there may be a discussion regarding guidelines/rules on how such a banner may be displayed, but this is a pretty easy way to build CBBQA value.

Great minds. I've thought the same thing. You used to be able to see quite a few CBBQA flags at contests. I like them. I also liked our old logo gear. We should solicit shirt/hat/jacket designs from the membership to go along with the penants. When people sign up for a membership or do a renewal, they can add on our logo gear for an additional donation. We could approach this similarly to the USGA where they include a US Open hat every year with a renewal.

We also used to have CBBQA pins. I would give these to my CBJs from out of state when it was obvious they were pin collectors.

I have some left. I try to hand them out at contests. Are you going to be at Vista? I will try to remember to bring them. Stop on by.

Thom, nice looking apron. Let's see, how long would mine stay white? Uh, 2 seconds!

This weekend in Arizona, I'll wear the CBBQA apron that Benny gave me earlier this year and hang the small CBBQA banner that Thom gave me a couple of years ago at the Anaheim 101 class. The CBBQA will be represented.

I have 20-30 of the pins somewhere here. I think Grant had the banners produced at Gorilla Banners way back when.

This is something I always wondered. I've seen some of the aprons at competitions, but have only seen the stuff from cafe press on the website. Hopefully, someone can look into this as another revenue source for the CBBQA.

Hey Bill - thank you very much! I will not be at Vista this weekend, but Dave Tendick, Smokehouse 10, will be. Is it possible to give a couple to Dave and I'll get one from him?

I would also suggest generic business cards for members so they can pass them out to interested parties at events. It will provide them with a reminder and the CBBQA site address making it easier to sign up. Business cards are real cheap now.

Terrific idea, Ric. Creating a lasting connection to the CBBQA site + forums is not just about growing visibility of the CBBQA, though that would be a benefit. It's about connecting barbecue enthusiasts with the regional community. We all win. The cards are a great idea because it's impossible to remember a URL someone rattles off at a chance encounter.

I don't expect the CBBQA to cover the cost of these items - we just need to make it really easy and relatively inexpensive for us all to order some.

Yes, I was on the BoD at the time and remember how he had to fight tooth and nail to get that idea going, things change don't they?

We also use to have a EZ-UP with a CBBQA banner and would set that up at each event. It seemed like a good idea but we always had trouble finding people to man the booth so it kind of went by the wayside.
